Archival

 
 

The Archival Working Group documents and preserves regional history and current events of FilAms in Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Running Projects: Collecting oral histories of people who grew up, went to school, worked, or lived in OC/IE

Potential Projects: Collect primary sources on Filipino farm workers in the early 1900s, Preserve artifacts from collegiate student organization, Compile regional list of Filipino-owned entities (e.g., restaurants, churches, non-profits) past and present

Research Facilitation promotes the use of historical context in research and practice with FilAm communities.

Running projects: Writing group workshops

Potential projects: Directory of Filipina/x/o American scholars, Reading lists on FilAm history for interdisciplinary researchers

Community Outreach
& Education

 
 

The Community Outreach & Education working group aims to provide and increase opportunities to learn about FilAm history with the goal of bringing the greater Filipina/x/o community together.

Running Projects: New member orientation zine, FilAm-owned business directory, AAPI Literature resources

Potential Projects: Panels and speaker series on topics such as being an accomplice in the movement for Black lives, intersectionality, mental health, environmental, economic, and racial issues; Advocate for ethnic studies in high schools and colleges

The Filipino American History Month (FAHM) Working Group supports activities related to the annual nationwide FAHM event in October. We align with and promote the yearly theme determined by FANHS National.
